My Birth Story - How Be Your Own Birth Started

So people have asked me why have I trained to be a hypnobirthist and antenatal teacher? What made me start Be Your Own Birth? It all started when I was pregnant with my second child back in 2021. I had a bit of a traumatic birth with my first child back in 2014. Looking back I know alot of it was to do with being scared, not knowing what was going on and not knowing what my birth choices were! I went into panic mode which made the labour and birth more stressful and had to have medical intervention. So when I was pregnant with my second child in 2020/21, I knew I wanted this birth to be different, to have a better experience. I decided to go down the road of hypnobirthing. I practised the relaxations, breathing techniques and listened to the audios every day until the day I went into labour. I also learnt more about what happens during labour and understanding my choices for birth and educating myself to feel more prepared. And my goodness what a different birth it was! Using everything I learnt I felt more confident, more in control and more calm throughout the whole labour. Don't get me wrong, I did have a couple of wobbles! (When we arrived at the hospital and when contractions started ramping up) but I managed to get back in the zone using the techniques and be in a calm, positive headspace. The result was after 30 minutes of pushing (and no medical interventions needed) she came out with no problem! :) It was an amazing experience and I know hypnobirthing played a huge part in having that amazing birth! After this I decided I wanted to train as a Hypnobirthing teacher and to help other mothers to have the same experience. Once I qualified with KGHypnobirthing, Be Your Own Birth was born. Every woman deserves to have the best birth experience and if I can have a hand in helping with that then I will be very happy! 😊 For more information or to book course with me, please contact me.
